Overview

The Worldwide Catan Championship once again returns to Germany for it’s 10 year anniversary! From its humble origins, the WWCC has been hosted three times at the Essen Game Fair. In 2008, Mayfair Games Inc. brought the World Championship outside Europe for the first time to the USA, at GenCon Indy in Indianapolis, IN. The 2010 event is the first year that the tournament will be a major event in itself, separate from the hustle and bustle of the game fair. Participants representing countries all over the world shall compete for the coveted title of Catan World Champion at picturesque Wildenstein Castle, in a truly medieval atmosphere!

The event will commence with a multinational welcome day, on Friday, September 17, 2010. On Saturday, the winners of the regional qualifying events from Europe, North America, Asia and the South Pacific will compete with the national qualifiers for a place in the finals. On Sunday while the finalists are struggling for the coveted title of World Champion, there will be a special event open to all other participants, including a hearty knights banquet among other things! United States player Todd Sweet won the World Championship title in 2008, for the 2010 event the cards have been completely reshuffled, we’ll see who shall prevail to become the 2010 World Champion!
